Aghighon, also known as coral bead, red coral, precious coral or marine coral is said to be more popular than any other gemstone in Nigeria. The popularity of Aghighon can be attributed to its color exhibited through clothing and other adornments worn at weddings and other events.
In some parts of Nigeria like the like South Eastern Nigeria and the South South, these beads symbolize royalty or are worn by people with chieftaincy titles.
