Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna is a Partner with Tsedaqah Attorneys. Before co-founding the firm, he garnered extensive dispute resolution and transactional experience working in other reputable Law Firms in Nigeria. Cumulatively, he has about 2 decades of litigation and commercial law practice experience.
Mr. Uwanna attended Abia State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2003. Subsequently, he obtained a Master’s degree in Law from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State in 2010, as well as a Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management from the Pan Atlantic University, Lagos in 2012. He has also obtained various other relevant certifications and in 2012, he was appointed a Notary Public of Nigeria.
Ikechukwu is an active member of numerous professional bodies, many of which he actively serves on sensitive committees. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Nigeria (CITN); Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSAN); member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA), International Bar Association (IBA), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Chartered Institute of Mediators and Conciliators (CIMC), Capital Market Solicitors Association of Nigeria (CMSAN) and Association of Outsourcing Practitioners of Nigeria (AOPN).
In 2017, Ikechukwu was among the first set of lawyers awarded the ESQ Nigerian Legal Awards “40 lawyers under 40” who will shape the future of the legal profession in Nigeria.
In 2018, the Chief Judge of Lagos State appointed Ikechukwu Uwanna to serve a member of Special Committee on the Deputy Sheriff Section of the Lagos State Judiciary. Recently in 2020, Ikechukwu was also appointed by the Chief Judge of Abia State to serve on the committee for the review of the Abia State High Court Civil Procedure Rules and the Magistrate Court Rules. He discharged all the assignment creditably well.
Ikechukwu has served as a Secretary of the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NBA, Ikechukwu has played very vital roles in the NBA (National and Lagos) since becoming a member in 2003. This include representing the Nigerian Bar Association on the Board of the Civil Society Committee of the Nigeria Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative. He is currently the Chairman of the NBA, Lagos Branch which is the most vibrant and populous branch of the NBA.
